A written history of Bobby Jameson and his search through the past. Working my way back through the jungle of drug addiction and booze. My family life as a kid was the breeding ground for addicts. No self worth, no help, and one chance to get out alive. Music was the horse I rode out on...and the music business was the horse I rode into hell. Pronounced dead twice from drug over doses, I lived to tell how the pursuit of fame is as deadly as any narcotic I have ever used.

AS LONG AS MY GOODBYE...
BY MYSELF
I CAME TO YOU
TO YOU
I CAME ALONE
FROM DISTANT
TIMES AND
DISTANT LANDS
I CAME HERE
ON MY OWN....
NOHING CARRIED
ON MY BACK
POSSESSIONS
HAVE I NONE
ALONE I CAME
ALONE I'LL LEAVE
WHEN MY
LONG WALK
IS DONE
I THE WOLF
A FOREIGNER
ALWAYS ON
MY OWN
WANDER IN
A LITTLE WHILE
BUT ALWAYS
LEAVE ALONE
CRIMSON MOONS
AND CRYSTAL STARS
AGAINST BLACK
VELVET SKY
MY HELLO
WILL NEVER LAST
AS LONG
AS MY GOODBYE...

beautifull....yet I wonder; if the world is full of wolves in sheepskins we might be sheep in wolfskins. Some even dress up like holy cows for what it matters....
ReplyDeleteAnyway, your hello and if so goodbye will stay with this one, just like every sighting of you in this jungle world.... RESPECT for the Lone Wolf I say.
This is so beautifully written! Thank you for sharing it!!
ReplyDelete~Vicky
You have not merely a knack for the vivid verbal image, but you also have the knack of finding the perfect visual image to accompany your pieces.
ReplyDeleteThe last stanza could very well stand alone as a remarkable evocation of the artist who cannot be forgotten, a memorable work of art, a lost love, a fallen friend or family member, or the late night encounter of partner or prey, to name but a few possibilities....
I am reminded of a night in Kenya at a tourist outpost called "The Ark," where all night, if you wish, the guest is notified of various animals that turn up to visit the salt lick. Being nocturnal myself, I stayed up all night and saw (and took video of) elephants, rhinoceros, lions, tons of birds, all within forty or fifty feet of the compound.
Then, about 5:00 in the morning, just before the glow of dawn, I was outside alone on a parapet when I saw movement out in the brush about 30 yards away. As I focused my camera on the movement, the invisible creature stopped, and suddenly through the black of darkness and the obscuring bush, I could just see two tiny spots, glowing. They literally shone yellow-green, flashing in the darkness. Then, for just an instant I saw the black panther look toward me, lift his nose just slightly to sense the air, and then slink away. The "hello" was instantaneous, but the "goodbye" has never left me....
So, with you, my friend,
Tim
